Logging food fast
Updated: 20 June 2026
Food logging only helps if it's fast. Bene gives you four ways to capture a meal, and always shows a quick review before anything is saved.
Scan a meal
From the Log Calories sheet, tap Scan meal. The camera opens straight away — point it at your plate and Bene estimates the foods and their nutrition.
Because a single photo is an estimate, Bene always shows an editable review first. Adjust the items and portions, then save. Meal scan uses the live camera only.
Scan a barcode
Tap Scan barcode and point the camera at a product's barcode. Bene looks it up, then shows a serving review where you set the serving size and how many servings you had. Products you scan show up in your Recents next time.
Search
Start typing a food and Bene searches instantly across your own foods and a built-in catalogue. For more options, tap Search Open Food Facts to look it up online. Tap any result to review the serving before logging.
Quick add
In a hurry, or eating something simple? Quick add lets you enter calories and macros directly, with an optional name. Give it a name and Bene saves it for one-tap reuse later.
The serving review
Every food you add opens a review card: the name and brand, the serving size and number of servings, the time, and a macro breakdown. Nothing is logged until you confirm — so the numbers are always yours to adjust.
Set your targets
To track against goals, set your calorie and macro targets in Profile → Nutrition. Enter them yourself, or use the built-in calculator, which works them out from your profile.
