Log a meal: scan, search or quick add
However you log food, Bene shows you a review first, so nothing lands in your day until you've checked it.

Open the food log
- 01Tap +, then Calories.
- 02Check the date at the top. It starts on the day you were looking at; tap it to log to a different day.
Scan food, a barcode or a label
- 01Tap Scan. The camera opens with three modes: Scan food, Barcode and Food label.
- 02Scan food: photograph your plate (or pick a photo). Bene estimates each item; check the portions before you add it.
- 03Barcode: point at a packaged product's barcode. If it isn't found, the camera switches to Food label so you can scan the nutrition panel instead.
- 04Food label: photograph the nutrition panel. Bene reads it and saves the food so it's quicker next time.
Good to know
- A barcode or label is more precise than a photo of a plate. A meal scan is an estimate, which is why you always review it.
Search
Start typing to search your own foods and trusted databases (USDA and UK CoFID) straight away. For branded products, tap Search Open Food Facts at the top of the results.
Foods you've logged before appear under Recent before you type anything.
Quick add
When you only have the numbers, tap Quick add and enter calories, fat, carbs and protein. Give it a name to save it for next time, or leave the name blank for a one-off.
Check the serving
The review card shows the food, the serving size and how many servings, the time you ate it, and how the calories split between protein, carbs and fat. Adjust anything, then add it.
Fix a meal later
- 01On Home, tap the meal.
- 02Tap an item to change it, or Add item to add one.
- 03Change Eaten at to move it to another time or day.
- 04Add, replace or remove the photo, or delete the whole meal, from the options at the top.
